Polis Town - Pafos - Cyprus

Polis Chrysochous (the city of gold) is situated in the northwest of the island, north of Pafos and is part of the Pafos Region(District). The Municipality has about 3000 residents (including Polis (Chrysochous), Prodromi(1Km) and Latchi(3Km)). It is 35km(40min) from Pafos town, about 50 minutes(min) from Pafos airport , about 2 hours from Larnaca airport and about 25 min from Tsada Golf Course. Also Polis is about 9km from Baths of Aphrodite Place(in the nearby Neo Chorio small village-400 residents). Polis Chrysochous Municipality and CTO(Cyprus Tourism Organisation) offer you as much information about the Area(Polis & Akamas) and its surroundings. Polis is the site of the ancient kingdoms of Marion and Arsinoe. It has a history going back to ancient times and one can see real treasures at various archeological sites(in and surround Polis) and at the Local Archeological Museum. The area of Polis is with plains, mountains, clear seas and sandy beaches with(climate) mild winters and cool summers.

You can enjoy(in Polis Area) walking, hiking(Akamas trails), cycling, motor-cycling, water-sports, jeep safaris to Akamas Park, boat trips to Akamas Sea, Camping(Polis Camping-Site), Golf(Tsada Village), GoKarts (on- and off-road),etc. Also, in Polis/Latchi and other nearby sandy beaches you can relax on the beach or have a sunbathing and also at noon or at night you may have good sea-food meals at fish taverns/restaurants near the beach or harbour(Latchi to Baths) or at Polis(Not nearby the sea).

Akamas Peninsula National Park

Baths of Aphrodite(You can find a sea-food restaurant and a kiosk there) is nearby Akamas Peninsula National Park (from "Baths" and from the "Neo Chorio Village" start the Akamas National Park with roads towards Cape Arnaoutis(Cape Akamas), you may also reach Cape from other directions(from Pegeia, Drouseia Village, etc)). When you get tired the small traffic(of Polis Area) and people, drive/visit to the Akamas Peninsula National Park and discover its natural beauty(trees&plants, wild flowers, small wild animals). In the Akamas Peninsula there is a road (NOT tarmac) for all kind of vehicles(some roads require 4WD car) towards Cape Arnaoutis. A walk along its nature-trails(mountain mainly) accompanied by the panoramic view of the bay of Polis, is an unique experience. Also, you may get a boat-trip to Akamas Sea from Latchi Harbor(you may also choose a botton-glass boat to discover under sea-surface life).

Latchi

Polis has a small Fishing Harbor at Latchi. Harbor is famous for its fresh fish and beautiful coastline. Also this harbour Modernized & Extended recently(for yachts). Around the harbour exist many fish taverns/restaurants, you may have a sea-food meal or just chill out, watching the fishermen with their catch !!! Nearby Latchi mainly to Akamas side there are many water-sport facilities and sandy beaches. Just before entering Latchi is the Polis Municipal Beach. In Latchi you can find additionally a Bank, Supermarkets, Cafes, Bars, Disco-Club, souvenir-shops, jewellers, travel agentcies, taxi offices,etc.

Polis Square

Polis Square attract many Tourists/Visitors in the evening (and in the day) at tourism seasons mainly. Recently extended, fully pedestrian, the place has many restaurants, shops, bars, a disco(Polis, there is another disco to Latchi), jewellers, souvenir-shops, book-shops, taxi-office, etc. During tourism season(March-October) many cultural and entertainment events are organized in the Square(sometimes and in other places like the Polis Cultural Center or the Plage(Polis Municipal Beach place)) by the Polis Municipality.
